Getting Started with Your New FacePlant

First thing's first - if you need any assistance, please email us at faceplant@cubecraftcreations.com and we will get back to you as soon as we're able to with support.

Instructions:

1. Charge your new FacePlant by plugging it into the USB-C charger.
2. Turn on your new FacePlant.
   1. Sometimes you may have to toggle the switch a few times to wake it up. FacePlants are known to be temperamental.
3. Once the FacePlant wakes up, it should be complaining about being thirsty — this is normal.
   1. Don't be taken aback by its angry face, it can't hurt you.
4. Go to your phone/tablet/laptop and connect to FacePlant's built-in WiFi.
   1. SSID: FacePlant-Setup
   2. Password: faceplant
5. Go to your device's browser and navigate to 192.168.4.1 — FacePlant's menu should appear.
6. Within this menu, you are able to connect FacePlant to your WiFi, update the moisture sensor range (this is pre-calibrated), and re-calibrate its accelerometer.
7. Once completed with the initial setup, FacePlant will restart and display its new IP address during each startup so you know how to connect with it.
   

Understanding FacePlant's Moods

FacePlant communicates through facial expressions. Here's what they mean:

• 😊 Happy Face — Your plant is properly watered. Nice work, plant parent!
• 😟 Sad Face — Your plant is thirsty. Time to water!
• 🫧 Bubble Face — Whoa there, easy on the watering can. Your plant is overwatered.
• ☠️ X X RIP — FacePlant has given up hope. This appears after 72 hours without water. Water your plant and FacePlant will forgive you... eventually.

Battery vs. USB Behavior

• Plugged in via USB: FacePlant stays awake and shows its face at all times.
• Running on battery: FacePlant takes naps to conserve energy. It will wake up once every hour, show its face for about 2 minutes, and then go back to sleep. If your plant is dry, FacePlant will stay awake to make sure you get the message.

Keeping FacePlant Up to Date

FacePlant automatically checks for firmware updates when connected to WiFi. When an update is available, FacePlant will handle it on its own — no action needed from you.
